12 TIPS SA PAGSAKAY NG MRT WITH FEELINGS

Okay, alam kong maraming horror stories; laging nasisiraan, siksikan, mahaba ang pila. I know a lot of people who cursed the train and promised never in their lives to ride in it again. Pero minsan kasi sa buhay natin, we are left with no choice. Kailangan talaga natin mag-adjust. We need to learn how to win over these dreadful situations!

I’ve been riding the train since 2013(?) because it was the best way for me to get from South to North and back since I live in Cavite and go to university in Quezon City. That means I ride from the first station (Taft Avenue) and get off at the last (North Avenue). That means I take the whole route and I witness everything that happens in between (well, at least where I’m seated). That also means that I have figured out, in my years of independent, adult-living experience, how to find happiness at the MRT.

If you’re a first timer or a hater (haha), try these tips next time you (have no choice but to) take the train!

1. WAG MATAKOT. Parang pag-ibig.

2. BUMILI NG BEEP CARD (OPTIONAL). If you take the train on the daily, getting a Beep card will surely help you save time! Siyempre hindi ka na pipila sa ticket booth; you can head straight to the platform and wait for the train. Abangan mo lang, malapit na yun. Parang pag-ibig.

3. ILAGAY ANG BAG SA HARAP MO. We don’t mean to judge, but it’s always better to take caution especially in a crowded place as this. Hindi tayo dapat madaling magtiwala… Parang pag-ibig.

Parang pag-ibig.

5. PWEDE DIN NAMAN SA WITH THE GUY FRIENDS kung gusto mo. If chivalry is truly not dead yet, there is a higher chance that some gentleman may offer his seat to you. Thank them if they do, don’t judge if they don’t. We are not entitled to get mad if they don’t. We don’t know what kind of work he did in the day that his legs would probably fail to support him if he didn’t get any rest sooner than later. Parang pag-ibig.

6. OFFER YOUR SEAT TO THE ELDERLY, PREGNANT AND WITH CHILD, AND THE PWDs. No questions asked naman na siguro? Walang kasi or kahit na. Hindi lahat ng bagay kailangan may dahilan. Parang pag-ibig.

Don’t settle for less if you know you deserve more. May space pa talaga sa gitna para sa’yo and I’m sure mas magiging masaya ka d’on. Kung gusto may paraan diba? Parang pag-ibig.

Parang pag-ibig, diba?

12. MANIWALANG HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE. Dahil sabi nga nila, experience is the best teacher. Parang pag-ibig.
